SCHOOLS — MAINTENANCE — FUNDING
MODEL
1325. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Minister for
Education:
(1) Has the
Department of Education conducted or facilitated consultations on a model of
funding school maintenance based on or similar to the Queensland D2M—direct
to market—model?
(2) If yes to
(1), when were the consultations and which stakeholders participated?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) No; however,
the Department of Education has had initial discussions with the Department of
Finance Building Management and Works on the Queensland D2M model of funding
school maintenance. The department currently has in place a program that
provides for all public schools to opt to manage their own faults up to a value
of $1 500. Independent public schools have the flexibility to choose their own
contractors to repair faults. In 2015, 166 public schools opted to manage their
own faults.
(2) Not
applicable.
