much funding has Tourism WA provided to the exhibition
for each of the years 2017, 2018 and 2019; (b) Has
the Department of Tourism provided any other assistance
to the exhibition in each of the years 2017, 2018
and 2019; (c) Has Tourism WA pledged to continue its funds allocation to the exhibition for 2020 and how much has been promised; (d) Can
the department supply estimated visitor numbers to the exhibition for each of the years 2017, 2018 and 2019; (e) Can
the department provide an economic benefit in dollar terms from tourists visiting the exhibition in each of the years 2016, 2017, 2018 and an estimated benefit
for 2019; and (f) Has the department discussed a change of venue with the exhibition organisers : (i) If
yes, what alternative venues have been considered
in the discussions?

(a)     2017 - $185 000 (excl. GST)

(b)     The event is promoted each year in Tourism WA’s perennial events marketing campaign, including print and online advertising, as well as via social media and public relations activities. In addition, in 2017 Tourism WA secured a morning of weather crosses on Channel Seven’s Weekend Sunrise program and in 2019 secured a high-profile social media influencer to attend and cover the event.
(c)     Tourism WA has a three-year agreement with Sculpture by the Sea Inc. for 2018-2020 at $200 000 per year.
(d)     Tourism WA has not commissioned research on the event to estimate visitor numbers. However, the event holder advises that the event was attended by 16 560 non-WA patrons in 2017 and 17 010 non-WA patrons in 2018. Figures for 2019 have not yet been provided.
(e)     Tourism WA has not commissioned economic impact research on the event.
