(a) Commonwealth Financial Assistance Grants (FAGs) for roads and the Main Roads WA direct grants are allocated in proportion to road asset preservation needs. These needs are based on the length and standard of roads contained in a local government's road inventory. The more roads in the inventory, and the higher their standard, the greater their road grant will be.
(b) The WA Local Government Grants Commission allocates the road component of the FAGs and Main Roads WA allocates road grants directly to local governments. Both of these grant sources are determined on the basis of information contained in a local government's road inventory.
