I refer to the minister's
media statement of 29 October 2019 entitled ''Increased funding to stop
hospital violence and aggression''.
(1) Can the
minister provide a full breakdown of the $11.23 million funding, including the
spend on each of the WA Country Health Service areas and the public awareness
campaign?
(2) Which regional hospitals in
particular will receive additional —
(a) security staff, and how many at
each site;
(b) alcohol and other drug liaison
staff, and how many at each site; and
(c) CCTV upgrades?
(3) What
arrangements will be provided under the initiative to the 12 remote area
service centres operated under contract by Silver Chain?

announced includes $6.13 million for recurrent initiatives and $5.1 million for
capital works for the WA Health system. Of this total amount, the WA Country
Health Service is to receive 38 per cent of the recurrent funding and 62 per
cent of the capital funds allocated to health service providers.

The public awareness campaign will
commence in November 2019 with an approved campaign budget of $180 000.
(2) (a) Hedland,
Roebourne, Kalgoorlie, Busselton, Bunbury and Geraldton hospitals will receive
additional security staff. The details of how many FTE is to be determined.
(b) The WA
Country Health Service allocation for alcohol and other drug liaison services
is a telehealth initiative and not specific to any particular location.
(c) Bunbury,
Mullewa, Meekatharra, Carnarvon and Exmouth hospitals will receive funding for CCTV improvements. Wheatbelt, goldfields and other
south west sites will also receive upgrades.
(3) WACHS is not
aware of any specific requests from Silver Chain for funding to support its
staff safety.
