South Fremantle power station—Redevelopment
92. Hon Dr Brad Pettitt to the Leader of the House
Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation:
I refer to the
heritage-listed former South Fremantle power station. The building is owned by
Synergy. The state government ran a short expression-of-interest period in June
2021. In 2022, Kerry Stokes's investment vehicle Australian Capital Equity
signed a conditional sale agreement with the site's owner, Synergy, but
abandoned the project.
(1) What is the current status of the
South Fremantle power station building redevelopment?
(2) How much is being spent annually on
security for the building and on maintaining the built heritage?
(3) Does Synergy still intend to dispose
of this asset and, if so, what is the process and timeline?

honourable member for some notice of the question. The following response has
been provided by the Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation and I answer on
behalf of the Leader of the House.

does not currently have any building redevelopment plans for the site.
(2) For the current financial year,
expenditure to the end of February was $506,000.
(3) Synergy remains open to discussions
with interested third parties.
