I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer is provided on behalf of the
Minister for Environment.
(1) The state government remains
committed to implementing its 2017 state election commitments.
(2)–(3) Firm action is being taken. Significant progress
has been made on the negotiation of Indigenous land use agreements with
native title groups, which are required to create the national park.
Consultation with the traditional owners is ongoing and the creation of the
national park is near completion. I add that if the member would like a briefing,
I am happy to ask the minister to arrange it for him.
