MIDLAND PUBLIC HOSPITAL — SWAN DISTRICT
HOSPITAL
1226. Hon SAMANTHA ROWE to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the opening of the new Midland Public Hospital on
24 November.
(1) What is
the exact date and time the emergency department at Swan District Hospital will
close, and how long will the changeover period be in which both hospital
emergency departments are open?
(2) Will the
Department of Health or St John of God cover the cost of ambulance transfers
for people who still present to Swan District Hospital's emergency
department in the days immediately following its closure?
(3) How much
money is being spent for community advertising and information to local
residents about the emergency department changeover?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) The Swan
District Hospital emergency department will close at 7.00 am on Tuesday, 24
November 2015. St John of God Midland Public Hospital, including the emergency
department, will open at the same time.
(2) Neither.
Should a patient present to Swan District Hospital following closure, signage
and information redirecting them to St John of God Midland Public Hospital will
be available on perimeter fencing, along with all the communication and
notification that has gone out previously. The St John Ambulance Association
will take all patients being transported by ambulance to hospital to St John of
God Midland Public Hospital from 7.00 am on Tuesday, 24 November 2015.
(3) It is $379 777—WA Health funds only.
