(c) how many were referred to the Australian Industrial Relations Commission?
(1) Unknown. The WAIRC Registrar registers EEAs but has no knowledge of those still in force because employees leave employment or businesses change, and therefore the agreements lapse. (2) Safety and health representatives are not approved under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 . However, WorkSafe has received notification that 217 safety and health representatives were elected between 21 February and 20 March 2007. (3) This information is not available because provisional improvement notices are not required to be reported under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 unless a review of the notice is requested. (4) None. (5)-(5a) The Australian Bureau of Statistics measures industrial disputation on a quarterly basis. Figures for the number of disputes and total working days lost are not disaggregated for each month. The number of individual disputes is not published at the State/Territory level, however in the December quarter 2006 a total of 50 disputes were recorded throughout Australia. Western Australia lost a total of 900 working days to industrial action during the December quarter, while Australia lost a total of 54,200. (b) In February 2007, there were 11 applications to the WAIRC for a compulsory conference. (c) Not applicable. State Government agencies do not maintain statistics on the number of disputes referred to the Australian Industrial Relations Commission, which is a Commonwealth instrumentality. (6) One. (7) No charges were brought against union officials under State industrial laws last month.
