I thank Hon Barbara Scott for some notice of this question, which I answer on behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Culture and the Arts. The minister has provided the following response. (1)-(3) Collection storage and staff location capacity were considered in the analysis of all sites considered for the new Museum. With reference to question without notice 344, the minister outlined in her answer that the new Museum will feature world-class education and lecture facilities, providing the highly qualified Museum staff with even more opportunities to engage with the public through education, school programs and lecture series. Special interest groups and individuals will also continue to be able to engage with core Museum researchers and scientists at the collection and research centre. The state-of-the-art facilities at the collection and research centre at Welshpool will continue to house the state’s collection of more than four million objects and be the Museum’s central research and scientific facility servicing the new Museum and the WA Museum’s seven other sites.
