PERTH
MAJOR SPORTS STADIUM — BURSWOOD TRAIN STATION
380. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the minister representing the
Treasurer:
I refer to the $300 million allocated for transport
infrastructure to support the proposed Burswood stadium, of which $140 million
is budgeted for a new railway station.
(1) Will the minister advise how much is notionally budgeted
for —
(a) a new walk bridge over the Swan
River;
(b) upgrades to Victoria Park Drive;
and
(c) a new bus terminal?
(2) Will the
minister detail what other projects are expected to be funded from this $300 million
and how much is budgeted for each of them?
(3) If no to (1) and (2), why not?
(4) How much of the $300 million is
allocated for escalation?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1)–(3)
In accordance with the ''Perth Major Stadium Project Definition Plan'',
the Director General of Transport is required to prepare for the Minister for
Transport a project definition/master plan for the transport facilities
required to support the stadium. This master plan will include the provisions
and cost estimates for road, rail and bus facilities and the pedestrian bridge
and will be completed in the first half of 2013. Accordingly, in order not to
pre-empt the final master plan outcomes, no further information on the
transport requirements will be released until the master plan has been
considered by cabinet next year.
(4) Actual
escalation from May 2007 to June 2011 in WA is actually minus two per cent. We
have assumed, notionally, a zero per cent escalation, given that for larger
projects we would expect some escalation.
