Practical driving assessments—South West region
658. Hon Steve Martin to
the minister representing the Minister
Assisting the Minister for Transport:
I refer to information that the Department of
Transport and Major Infrastructure is auditing regional locations for multi-combination
licence practical driving assessments and has withdrawn all PDAs in the South West
Region outside Albany and Esperance.
(1) Is the above characterisation accurate; and,
if not, will the minister please clarify?
(2) Will the minister table a list of locations
for regional PDAs across WA that have been revoked?
(3) What is the reason for this decision?
(4) What mitigation measures are being put in
place?
(5) What groups has the minister met with in
relation to this matter?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question and provide the answer on
behalf of the minister representing the Minister Assisting the Minister for
Transport.
(1)–(5) The Department of Transport and
Major Infrastructure has not withdrawn heavy vehicle practical driving assessments,
inclusive of the multi-combination class of licence. The department maintains
an ongoing audit and oversight regime of all heavy vehicle practical driving assessment
services delivered by approved third-party agents, inclusive of those operating
in the South West Region.
