TRAFFIC CONGESTION
881. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to severe congestion on
Perth roads.
(1) Can the
minister please clarify what specific project planning Main Roads WA is
undertaking in relation to the intersection of Thomas Street and Hay Street in
West Perth?
(2) If planning is underway, when
will the planning conclude?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided by the
Minister for Transport.
(1)–(2) I
reject the premise of the question. The cost of congestion has been less in
each year of the WA Labor government than the last four years of the previous
government. These roads are local roads under the care and control of the City
of Perth and City of Subiaco, which are responsible for planning and the
investigation of safety and efficiency issues, with support from Main Roads as
and when requested.
