My question is on behalf of Hon Kate
Doust, who is away on urgent parliamentary business.
I refer to the commonwealth Safety,
Rehabilitation and Compensation Legislation Amendment Bill 2014, which was read
into the commonwealth Parliament of Australia on the 19 March 2014.
(1) Has the
Western Australian government been briefed or had any discussion with the
commonwealth government regarding the impacts of the legislation on Western
Australian workers?
(2) What steps
has the Western Australian government taken to advise the commonwealth
government of its support or otherwise of the legislation?
(3) Will the
state government take any action to advocate for injured workers and Western
Australian-based employers or to protect them from the consequences of this
legislation in any way?

(1) WorkCover WA
participated in discussions with the commonwealth Department of Employment
during the development of the bill.
(2) The Western
Australian government has participated in discussions at a departmental level
and the bill was considered by the Select Council on Workplace Relations.
(3) I am not
aware of any consequences that would require action to be taken by the Western
Australian government in relation to the bill.
