(a) Since the release of the State Infrastructure Strategy - Implementation Progress Report 2024, the Cook government has secured federal govemment support for the provision First Point of Entry status for both the ports of Broome and Wyndham.
State agencies including the Kimberley Ports Authority are working closely with federal agencies to design and construct the necessary bio-security infrastructure to secure the improved FPoE status.
As previously announced, funding of $6m for the Port of Broome and $14m for the Port of Wyndham has been allocated by the Cook government to these projects. A further $0.5m has been committed to the preparation of a business case for investment in a passenger terminal for Broome.
Once secured, FPoE status will be a game-changer for the Kimberley region, stimulating economic activity and resource project development by drastically reducing freight costs across the region.
