I refer to the recent admissions by the Attorney General that a victim of crime was forced to change her identity and leave the state because the Premier chose to free from prison her convicted rapist, Douglas Ross Thomas, whose crime was so horrific he had been sentenced at the Governor’s pleasure. (1) Why did the Premier approve of Thomas’s release? (2) I have given the Premier written notice of the question. What will be the full cost of protecting and relocating the victim? (3) Why is the Premier placing the interests of a convicted rapist ahead of the rights of his victim? (4) Will the Premier table the briefing notes given to the Governor, with the relevant Exco minute that recommends Mr Thomas’s release? Dr G.I. GALLOP
