I draw the Member's attention to the fact that the data provided under (1) and (2) for the period 2012-13 is different to the information provided for the corresponding period in Question Without Notice C746 (24 October 2013) and Question Without Notice C953
(4 December 2013). Legal Aid Commission has advised that a system deficiency resulted in the 2013 answers including some Magistrates Court hearings which were attached to superior court matters and not including some applications for Magistrates Court matters which were refused. The Legal Aid Commission has now rectified these system failures.
To avoid any confusion, the response to Question 3013 identifies matters which are exclusively within the summary jurisdiction of the Magistrates Court.
