WEST AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL
COMMISSION
336. Mr P.B. WATSON to the Minister for
Sport and Recreation:
I have a supplementary question.
During the minister's answer she referred to cricket. We had a briefing
with the Western Australian Cricket Association and it said that it has done a deal.
Why is the minister trying to hide how
much money will be paid to the WA Football Commission to support grassroots
football once the stadium is opened?

I am going to pick the member up on cricket. The state government has
agreed commercial terms with the Western Australian Cricket Association. It
needs to finalise that contract with the stadium operator. That contract is yet
to be finally executed. All I can say to the member, and he will have the
opportunity in estimates next week to drill down —
Mr P.B. Watson : Are you turning up this year?
The SPEAKER : Carry on through the Chair.
Ms M.J. DAVIES : Fair crack, Mr Speaker. I would like to
tell the member where I was last year for estimates. I was actually in
hospital. That was why I was not in this place doing estimates. My colleague
who sits next to me handled it on my behalf very well, as did the parliamentary
secretary.
The SPEAKER : Let us move on, minister.
Ms M.J. DAVIES : No, I am not going to take pot shots from
the member over there. This was his question. If he is going to interject, I am
going to respond. He is wasting his own time.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : This is a good example of how things can go off track, member for
Albany.
Ms M.J. DAVIES : This state government can be very proud of
the investment it has made to support football. I look forward to the member
turning up to estimates and we can then have a discussion about exactly how we
intend to do that going forward.
