(a)
Please refer to Legislative Assembly Question on Notice 1058.
The Department of Mines and Petroleum advises:
(b)
Yes. The Media Monitoring Unit provides general summarised information relevant to all government agencies.
(i)
The Department of Mines and Petroleum uses the media monitoring services provided by
iSentia, which it shares under a Service Level Agreement with the Department of State
Development.
The Media Monitoring Unit sends summaries of all media coverage released each morning and afternoon, however iSentia provides a more customised service relevant to the resources sector and full transcripts of relevant events.
iSentia provides information tailored to the needs of the Department and includes more detailed information of relevant events, such as transcripts, and audio and visual clips.
(ii) The cost incurred in 2012-13 was $54 765 (excl GST).
The Department of Housing advises:
(b)
Yes. Like most other government agencies, the Department of Housing is subscribed to the newsfeed service of the MMU, which operates as a broad capture of all media issues pertaining to all aspects of the WA Government. The MMU, however, does not filter information relevant to various government portfolios nor offer individual monitoring services to agencies.
(i)
iSentia. The services used through Media Portal (a system of iSentia) are not available
through the MMU and include tailored:
-
Exact word and phrase match monitoring;
-
Online activity monitored;
-
Social media capture (such as Facebook and Twitter);
-
Electronic lodgement and report building for media statements;
-
Analytics relating to good/neutral/adverse coverage by topics;
-
Listen/watch immediate email- able downloads of audio and visual clips; and
-
Searchable functions for Housing's various news attractants.
(ii)
The cost of this media monitoring service for the 2012-13 financial year was $51 832.54.
