COMMUNITIES —
HOUSING AUTHORITY — PROCUREMENT CONTROLS
788. Mr R.S. LOVE to the Minister for Housing:
I
have a supplementary question. The department has written processes that the
Auditor General feels are appropriate —
The SPEAKER : Member, just ask
the question; do not make a statement.
Mr R.S. LOVE : There are
processes there. Why is minister's department not following those
rules?

Again,
as I said, one of the biggest corruption scandals in our state's
history that saw embezzlement at that agency level —
Mr P.J. Rundle : What are you
doing?
Mr J.N. CAREY : I appreciate that this is embarrassing
for members opposite because it occurred under the previous government's
watch.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Order, please.
Mr J.N. CAREY : There is a former cabinet minister right there
who sat around the table and was asleep at the wheel.
Dr D.J. Honey interjected.
Mr J.N. CAREY : Remember, we have eight days to go
until we never have to hear from the member for Cottesloe again—the
Trump supporter.
Dr D.J. Honey interjected.
Mr J.N. CAREY : He is very agitated. ''I am
going fishing!''
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Order, please.
Mr J.N. CAREY : Talk about marine parks! ''I am
fishing now!'' It is always fascinating. It must be deeply —
Dr D.J. Honey interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for Cottesloe, can you desist. I would
like to be able to draw question time to a close shortly.
Mr J.N. CAREY : It must be deeply disturbing to be the
Liberal member for Cottesloe and be disendorsed and replaced by the former head of the development industry. That must be
really jarring, which is why he gets so agitated on a constant basis.
As I have said, it was an extraordinary part of our state's
history. I note it was not the only thing to happen under the Liberal–National government. We also
had Goldmaster. It was another serious issue that was left for us to resolve .
We are taking this seriously. We are undertaking a number of reforms at the
agency, and we will continue to work through them.
The SPEAKER : Members, that concludes question time.
