1. Total number of non-forensic psychiatric beds reported at 30 June 2001 in the National Mental Health Report 2005 was 599. Please note no separate figures for non-forensic secure psychiatric beds were reported at that time.
Total number of non-forensic psychiatric beds at 1 July 2007 was 671. This includes 270 non-forensic secure beds.
2. For 1 July 2001 the reported figure of 599 represents all beds. On 1 July 2007, 663
beds were staffed and open to accommodate patients.
3. Total number of forensic beds reported at 30 June 2001 in the National Mental Health Report 2005 was 40. Please note no separate figures for forensic secure psychiatric beds were reported at that time.
Total number of forensic beds at 1 July 2007 was 38. This includes 30 secure beds.
4. All beds referred to in question 3 were staffed and open to accommodate patients on both dates.
