I thank the member
for some notice of this question, which I will answer on behalf of the
parliamentary secretary, who is away on urgent parliamentary business.
(1)–(4)
The position of Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner is intended to be
established under the Fire and Emergency Services Legislation Amendment Bill
2012. Clause 52 of this bill provides that the person holding the office as chief executive officer of the Fire and
Emergency Services Authority immediately before the transfer date is to be
taken to have been appointed as the Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner on
the same terms and conditions. Having regard to that, it will not be necessary
for the new commissioner position to be advertised.
