I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) The investigation of options for the permanent reinstatement of the weir is expected to be completed by mid-June 2008. In the interim, stabilisation of the existing weir and riverbanks is being undertaken to prevent further harbour siltation. (2) Consultation has been ongoing between the Department for Planning and Infrastructure, the Department of Environment and Conservation, the Department of Water and traditional owners in accordance with the government’s earlier commitment. Due to the highly technical nature of these works, the consideration of options will rely upon the engineering and hydrological expertise of professionals from these departments and their consultants. The public will be advised of the options being considered as soon as they are available. (3) Not applicable.
