(1) There were 420 notifications arising from Mandatory Reports between 1 September 2009 and 30 November. There were an additional 452 notifications of suspected child sexual abuse that did not come from Mandatory Reports during this period, creating a total of 872 notifications.

(3) Information provided by the Western Australia Police Service (WA Police) shows that between 1 September and 30 November 2009, 61 offenders were apprehended and charged with 166 offences as a direct result of Mandatory Reports. The offences included sexual penetration, indecent dealing and physical assaults. In relation to this data it is important to note that the Mandatory Report figures are not entirely representative of the arrests made and the charges referred by the WA Police with respect to child sexual abuse. The WA Police, specifically the Sex Crime Division, are able to provide broader statistical data if required.
(4) There were 3359 notifications received between 1 September 2009 and 30 November 2009, the primary nature of concern for these notifications were as follows:
- sexual abuse (872 notifications),
- neglect (1122 notifications),
- physical abuse (730),
- emotional abuse (490),
- psychological abuse (67)
- no suitable caregiver (25)
- primary nature of concern has not been recorded as yet (53).
