(2) Traffic survey data for this section of Reid Highway carried out in September 2003 indicated average weekday traffic volumes of 13 385 eastbound and 12 136 westbound with peak hour traffic flows up to 1 398 vehicles per hour in peak hours. (3) It is acknowledged that this section of the Highway is operating at capacity and experiencing congestion during peak periods. The Traffic Operations Centre at Main Roads constantly monitors the road network and adjusts traffic signals to ensure delays are kept to a minimum. (4) The long term planning for this section of Reid Highway has provision for a dual carriageway between Erindale Road and the Freeway, including widening of the existing bridge over the Freeway. This will provide two lanes eastbound and two lanes westbound. (5) The project is currently unfunded but will be considered, together with other high priority projects across the State as part of future budget deliberations. (6) Not applicable.
