ANIMAL ACTIVISM —
POLICE RESPONSE
1475. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to recent incidents of
misguided animal activism perpetuated under the government's watch,
including an incident on 4 November 2019 when police resources were deployed to
escort a livestock transporter and the malicious targeting of Perth butcher
Vince Garreffa online and on 9 November 2019 through a protest outside his
lawfully operating business.
(1) Were any arrests, charges or
move-on notices issued in relation to these events listed above?
(2) If yes to (1), please provide
further details.
(3) Was a police helicopter deployed to respond to
either of these events, and for how many hours was it required?
(4) What is the
cost to the taxpayer for the deployment of a police helicopter for one hour,
and is it more or less than the $2 795 listed in the Police (Fees and Charges)
Regulations 2018?
