Hon Robyn McSweeney questions the suitability of the Yornup site for industrial development due to the defunct Manjimup rail line and proposed Bridgetown bypass, suggesting Hester and Greenbushes as alternatives. The Minister's answer indicates ongoing assessment of multiple sites.

I refer to the industrial sites study for the Warren Blackwood region, and in particular, the Yornup area is listed as a potential industrial site which includes privately owned farm land, and ask -
(1) Will the Yornup site now be put aside as a potential industrial site, given that when it was listed, the study was based on choosing a site adjacent to road and rail?
The Manjimup line to Bridgetown is no longer working, and the proposed bypass takes out sections of the railway line at Bridgetown, and when this study was done, the rail line was very much a part of the Yornup site.
(2) Will the Minister now focus on the Hester and Greenbushes site as the most likely for the industrial centre?

(2) Hester and North Greenbushes have been identified as sites that may potentially accommodate industry. These sites are also being considered having regard to public submissions. Once this assessment has been undertaken, the Commission will forward a recommendation to the Minister regarding the future of industrial sites in the region.
