The Minister Replied:
(1) Advice on applications received is sought from a number of quarters, including the Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of the Gascoyne Development Commission. Assessments by the Minister for Regional Development take into account the personal attributes of the applicants, the balance of business backgrounds of the existing Board members and geographical representation across the region.
Local Members of Parliament are advised of the nominations and their views sought. The Minister advises that the views of the Member in relation to the Kimberley, Pilbara and Gascoyne Boards were received on 21 June 2000. The Minister recommends appointments which are subject to Cabinet endorsement.
