265. Hon JAMES HAYWARD to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the
answer provided to question without notice 254.
(1) What were the
names of the vaccines administered in 2021 and 2022 where safety signals were
detected?
(2) Were there any deaths attributed to the vaccines
for which safety signals were detected in Western Australia in 2021 and
2022?
(3) In relation to Western Australians who suffered
serious injury from the vaccines listed in the answer to (1), are those
people able to seek compensation from the vaccine manufacturers?
(4) If no to (3),
why not; and how will these people be able to seek compensation for their injuries?

signals were detected for Vaxzevria—AstraZeneca; Comirnaty—Pfizer;
and Spikevax—Moderna.
(2) One death in
WA, in 2021, was determined to be causally related to AstraZeneca.
(3) The
Australian government has implemented a claims scheme to enable eligible
claimants who have received a TGA-approved COVID-19 vaccine to obtain
compensation for recognised moderate to severe vaccine-related adverse events.
