WHALE CARCASS MANAGEMENT
898. Mr D.J. KELLY to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. Mr
Premier, 12 months ago a whale washed up on Whitfords Beach. The then Minister for Fisheries said that he recognised the problem and
would sort it out. Does the answer the Premier just gave not show that in 12 months
he has done none of that and that none of those issues has been resolved?

Whales have washed up on Cottesloe
Beach too, and at one stage removal was handled through my local electorate
office. The City of Stirling spent a great deal of money moving the recent
whale carcass. Some people are saying that it spent far too much in the way it
did it. Nevertheless, we will look at the expenditure it incurred and we will
consider what, if any, contribution we will make towards that. We are open to
that but we will be fair and consistent.
