PERTH FREIGHT LINK — FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
CONTRIBUTION
249. Hon AMBER-JADE SANDERSON to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the federal finance
minister's comments at a Deutsche Bank business lunch in Perth on 9
March, when he urged the WA government to ''get on with''
building Perth Freight Link, and that ''the deal was that construction
was starting in 2016''.
(1) What is the
most recent correspondence with the federal government regarding its $925 million
financial contribution to the project?
(2) Is this $925 million
contribution contingent on both stages being contracted out this year?
(3) What are the government's
current plans for stages 1 and 2 of the project?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) On 10 March 2016.
(2) No.
(3) At present
the delivery of Perth Freight Link is progressing, pending the outcome of the
appeal relating to the environmental approval process. The government remains
committed to this essential piece of transport infrastructure for the southern
suburbs to ensure the safety of residents, free movement of cars through the
area, access to infrastructure such as Fiona Stanley Hospital and to service Fremantle
port as well as any future outer harbour development.
