I am advised that (1) Since 14 April 2000 the Ministry of Fair Trading has received eight (8) complaints regarding the sale of land or houses within the buffer zone of the Ewington open cut coal mine in Collie and an investigation is being undertaken. (2) This is an operational matter on which I would not normally receive a report. However, I am also advised that the investigation is near completion and the report on the investigation will be referred for consideration by Ministry Legal Officers by mid to late September.
