111. Ms L. METTAM to the Minister for Health:
I have a supplementary question.
Why has there been a string of high-profile resignations offered in the
minister's portfolios, including from Dr Lawrence; is it the minister's
poor leadership or just pure coincidence?

None of the above. It is (c)—none
of the above. I do not think many people really appreciate just how difficult
was the role that Dr Lawrence played, particularly at the height of the
pandemic. She has been working 24/7, pretty much
since this whole issue began. I wish her all the very best as she continues her
stellar career as a member of the WA Health workforce. I thank her for
doing one of the most difficult tasks that has been dealt to any public servant
in the last 15 months—an outstanding role. Of the over 40 000 people
who work in our healthcare system, yes, occasionally one or two resign. I suspect
that is a matter of life when it comes to over 40 000 people working day in,
day out to provide one of the most outstanding health systems in the world.
