I refer to the Fremantle
built replica ship H.M. Bark Endeavour which will soon celebrate the 30th
anniversary since her launch. It is
hoped that she
will return to Whitby
England for Captain Cook’s 300th anniversary celebrations in 2028. The next five years of the life of the
Endeavour will be the most significant in the past 25 years. As a ship built here in Western Australia, we
have not had her visit Western Australian shores since 2011, and I ask: (a) can the Minister advise if there have been any considerations
and planning for bringing the Endeavour back to Western Australia at any time in the next five
years and, if so, can the Minister please provide some details of the plans; (b) have any plans been made to financially support volunteers
and the trip to England for Cook’s 300th anniversary; and (c) if yes to (b), please provide some details of the plans?
