Given the low reserves of water available this coming summer and the higher than expected use in the past couple of warm days - (1) When will the minister review and announce any changes to the current status of the use of sprinklers from scheme water on two days only? (2) Will there be any restrictions on scheme water use for watering of stock from the goldfields and agricultural comprehensive water scheme? Hon N.D. GRIFFITHS

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for the question. (1) The use of water varies. On some days it is higher than one would wish; on other days it is below that. The position is being monitored constantly. Should it be necessary, the decision that the member foreshadowed will be made at the appropriate time. (2) I will deal first with the scheme. No new restrictions are envisaged at this stage. However, the matter is being monitored. I am not foreshadowing anything, one way or the other. To complete the answer, the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, which is on the scheme, is subject to restrictions.
