(a) Under the current Forest Management Plan (FMP) 26.5 per cent of the available karri resource is available in the form of sawlogs and the balance is available in the form of lower grade logs. The lower grade logs can be used in the production of a range of products including woodchips and veneers. Sawdust is produced by processors of the log resource and the quantity produced is not monitored.
(b) Under the current FMP 31.1 per cent of the jarrah resource is available in the form of sawlogs and the balance is available in the form of lower grade logs. The lower grade logs can be used in the production of a range of products including firewood, charcoal and engineered timber products. Sawdust is produced by processors of the log resource and the quantity produced is not monitored.
(c) The Forest Management Plan 2014-2023 provides for a sustainable native forest products industry. The end-use of harvested logs is beyond the scope of the plan.
