I refer to the North West tourism industry, and I ask: (a) does the Minister have a plan to ensure that Broome's international airport attracts and retains regular international flights; (b) has the Minister had any recent discussions with Broome international airport representatives regarding this matter; (c) if yes to (b), when was the most recent meeting; (d) has the Minister had any recent discussions with major airline representatives regarding this matter; and (e) if yes to (d), please list those airline companies?

(a) Aviation access is a critical component of tourism in Broome, and a key pillar of the Broome Tourism Strategy . According to Tourism Research Australia, 51% of visitors visited Broome by air in the year ending March 2015. From a tourism perspective, Broome is well positioned to become a northern gateway for Western Australia. Tourism Western Australia and Australia’s North West Tourism continue to assess the market in order to ascertain potential opportunities. Tourism Western Australia also continues to actively market Broome within existing relationships with airlines both domestically and internationally.
