UBER TAXI
SERVICE — ENFORCEMENT ACTION
354. Hon ALANNA CLOHESY to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to advice to the Standing
Committee on Estimates and Financial Operations on 10 December 2014 that the
Department of Transport had taken enforcement action against 20 operators using
the Uber Black service and 15 cautions and 11 infringements were issued. Given
those figures —
(1) How many
enforcement actions, cautions and infringement have been taken in regard to
Uber Black?
(2) How many enforcement actions,
cautions and infringements have been taken in regard to Uber X?
(3) Are any
actions regarding Uber or their drivers currently on hold pending advice from
the Solicitor–General?
(4) If yes to (3), why?
(5) What role did Uber or their
employees or their agents have in having these actions placed on hold?
The PRESIDENT : I assume that information came from
a public hearing or a document that was made public by the committee.
Hon Alanna Clohesy : Senate estimates.
