(1) From 1 - 31
March 2012 inclusive, there were 802 patients admitted from the elective surgery waiting list, after waiting longer that the clinically recommended time for their category of surgery.

- 31 March 2012 inclusive, there were 7,287 patients admitted from the elective surgery waiting list with the following surgical specialities:
Cardio-thoracic: 74
Ear, nose and throat: 585
General: 1520
Gynaecology: 692
Neurosurgery: 77
Ophthalmology: 1140
Orthopaedic: 932
Plastic: 348
Urology: 811
Vascular: 126
Other: 982
(3) Of the patients admitted in March 2012, 7 waited 600 days or more before they were admitted for their surgery. In the interest of patient confidentiality the longest time an individual waited for elective surgery is suppressed, the supplied range prevents the identification of an individual patient.
(4) As at the 31 March 2012 inclusive, the Department of Health paid for 125 patients to have surgery undertaken in a private hospital.
The following table outlines the breakdown of procedures completed at private hospitals during this period:
