SORRENTO
QUAY — COASTAL INFRASTRUCTURE BUSINESS UNIT — PROPERTY AND
LEASE MANAGEMENT PROCESSES — REVIEW
642. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Minister for
Transport:
I have a supplementary question.
Once again, has the minister asked the Premier, his office or the Public Sector
Commissioner to investigate the leaking of confidential commercial information
against one of the complainants to the minister; and, if not; why not?

AnswerView source ↗

I
assume that the Leader of the Opposition is referring to the article in the
paper that refers to t he Strzelecki Group.
Mr
M. McGowan : Correct.
Mr
D.C. NALDER : No, I have not referred that at this point in time.
Mr
M. McGowan : Where has it come from?
Mr
D.C. NALDER : I have not referred it at this point in time because I do not
know who has leaked that information.
Mr
M. McGowan : Wouldn't that be a reason to refer it?
Mr
D.C. NALDER : Mr Speaker, I am not going to get into banter with the Leader
of the Opposition at this point.
Mrs
M.H. Roberts : Why aren't you referring it?
The
SPEAKER : Member!
Mr
D.C. NALDER : Mr Speaker, it has been two days since that article was
written. I have asked certain questions and I am waiting for a response.
Mr
M. McGowan : From whom?
Mr
D.C. NALDER : Look, Mr Speaker —
Mr
M. McGowan interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Thank you!
Mr D.C. NALDER : A number of concerns have been raised over a period of time, and I have
requested that the department investigate those matters. It has come to a point
at which I am not comfortable that it has progressed to the level it should
have. I have requested an independent review of those processes. We are
undertaking those processes. Ernst and Young will be undertaking that. That was
initiated by the department, not by me, after I requested an independent review
of those processes to ensure that everybody who deals with the government is
treated fairly, equitably and honestly. I just want to make sure that that is
occurring. I do not know how that information was provided or who provided that
information to The Sunday Times . I have
no idea where that has come from. Have I initiated an investigation to try to
find those who leaked it to the newspaper? At this point in time, no.
