I refer the Minister to his answer to Question on Notice No. 634, provided on 5 May 2009, and ask:
(a) can the Minister confirm that Bayswater train station continues to be serviced by a total of 248 car parking bays: 92 bays on the northern side of the station, 72 bays on the southern side of the station and 84 bays on the south-west side of the station;
(b) what consideration, if any, has been given to the further expansion of the car parking facility on the southern side of the Bayswater train station;
(c) will extra car bays be provided at Bayswater train station; and
(i) if so, how many extra car bays will be provided, when will they be provided and how much will they cost to provide; and
(d) is the current amount of car parking provided at Bayswater train station is meeting demand by commuters?

(a) Yes.
(b) Preliminary findings have shown there is available land for additional parking at the Perth end of the station, on Whatley Crescent. Detailed planning and design of the car parking arrangements will commence in the 2011 financial year.
(c) Decisions regarding provision of additional car parks will be made following completion of the planning process.
(i) The cost and number of car bays that can be provided cannot be ascertained until more detailed planning and design occurs.
(d) Yes. The newly extended southern car park does not reach capacity, however people are still choosing to park on Railway Parade, north-east of the station as that location is closer to the station.
