I am advised:
Surge capacity within our public hospitals is a vital element of the COVID pandemic response. Unopened beds play a key role in delivering surge capacity which is important in the context of managing unexpected internal and external system pressures.
The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in significant changes to the service delivery model within WA public hospitals due to additional precautions and measures required.
