BANKSIA
HILL DETENTION CENTRE — DETAINEE MANAGEMENT
914. Mr P. PAPALIA to the
Minister for Corrective Services:
I have a supplementary question. Is it true that the minister
has lost control of Banksia Hill —
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : That
is enough!
Mr P. PAPALIA : —
and there is now a declared competition between juvenile accommodation units to
see who can create the most havoc and damage?

I tell you what, Mr Speaker: I have complete faith in James
McMahon, DSC, DSM, to tell me the truth and ensure that he has the right team
in that place to run that than I would ever have in the member for Warnbro.
Mr D.J. Kelly interjected.
The SPEAKER : That
is enough, member for Bassendean!
Mr J.M. FRANCIS :
The member would still have the former commissioner there. I know he would —
Mr P. Papalia : It
is a competition; they are having a competition with each other.
Mr J.M. FRANCIS : —
because he does not ground truth, he just listens to the union. He just listens
to all the rubbish that comes out of that union. The member for Warnbro needs to
go out and talk to some of the real people out there.
Mr P. Papalia :
They have a competition!
Mr J.M. FRANCIS :
The member for Warnbro and I would both know one out there. He and I would have
both served with someone out there. He is a very successful man and a brilliant
leader. The member should ask him what is happening instead of just listening
to Toni Walkington and the Community and Public Sector Union–Civil
Service Association of WA.
Mr D.J. Kelly interjected.
The SPEAKER : I
think the member for Bassendean might be getting an early rest!
