SOLARIUMS
944. Hon KATE DOUST to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I ask this question on behalf of Hon Sue Ellery
who is away on urgent parliamentary business. I refer to the commercial use of
solariums, and I ask, since 1 October 2013 —
(1) Has the Minister for Health or any of
his representatives met with any members of Parliament or their representatives
in relation to this issue; and, if so, for each meeting —
(a) w ho attended the meeting;
(b) w hen and where was the meeting held;
(c) w ho requested the meeting; and
(d) w hat was agreed at the meeting?
(2) Has the Minister for Health or any of
his representatives met with any commercial operators of solariums; and, if so,
for each meeting —
(a) who attended the meeting;
(b) when and where was the meeting held;
(c) who requested the meeting; and
(d) what was agreed at the meeting?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) This
matter was raised in the Liberal party room with subsequent comments from the
Minister for Health and other members. The Minister for Health has committed to
bringing a final resolution forward for a government decision that addresses
the issues raised. At the request of the minister, the Department of Health has
also been investigating and reporting on this matter.
(2) No.
The PRESIDENT : I will have a look at that answer. It
seemed a bit strange to me in that it was a party-orientated answer rather than
a government-orientated answer.
