House representing the Minister for State Development:
I refer to the Port Hedland health
risk assessment publically released on the afternoon of Friday, 26 February 2016.
(1) What specific
actions have relevant government agencies initiated to address issues raised in
the report subsequent to its release?
(2) Have any
public information meetings taken place to explain the implications of the
report for residents' health and the town's future development?
(3) If yes to (2), on what dates did
those meetings occur?
(4) If no to (2), why not?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The
Department of State Development is finalising a report on behalf of the Port
Hedland Dust Management Taskforce that will include recommended strategies for
managing dust in Port Hedland, and specific actions for government agencies.
The health risk assessment is one of the documents considered by the task force
in formulating its recommendations. The report will be provided to the Minister
for State Development in the near future.
(2) No.
(3) Not applicable.
(4) The
implications of the health risk assessment on the future development of the
town are dependent upon the government's consideration of the report.
