Department of Consumer & Employment Protection/Worksafe
(a) There are no plans for major upgrades to websites during the 2005-06 financial year, however it is intended that a new online application be added to the Department of Consumer and Employment Protection (DOCEP) website during this time to provide Occupational Licence holders with the ability to view and update their details and to allow Trading Standards assessors to enter inspection data. The DOCEP website will be upgraded during this time but only as part of normal ongoing maintenance.
(b)(i) The new online application is being developed to provide enhanced facilities to the public and industry as part of DOCEP's Compliance and Licencing System. The new facilities will enable licence holders to view and update their details and where appropriate to renew their licences online. Additionally, assessors who inspect instruments on behalf of the Trading Standards Branch will be provided with data entry facilities to enable them to enter their results directly. This enhancement is in accordance with DOCEP's vision statement, Future Directions 2005 - 2008, Direction 2, Enhancing the capability of the community.
(ii) The cost of the new online application is expected to be approximately $100,000 and is part of the Department's capital funded E-business initiative. The ongoing upgrade to the DOCEP website will be carried out by internal staff at no additional cost.
