JUDICIAL COMMISSION
1041. Hon Dr BRIAN WALKER to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Attorney General:
I refer the Attorney General to the
answers he was kind enough to provide to my questions around the judicial
commission, asked on 13 and 14 August. In an attempt to better understand the
situation as it currently exists —
(1) What testing and/or vetting is
conducted prior to the appointment of judges here in WA?
(2) Will the
Attorney General table any relevant guidelines issued by the Department of
Justice; and, if not, why not?
(3) Does the
government envisage the proposed judicial commission having a role to play in
the selection and vetting of judicial candidates going forward?
