I refer to the Legislative Assembly Estimates Committee A, Division 40: Commissioner of Main Roads, E40, in relation to the Byford Rail Extension and the associated Thomas Road Bridge over Rail project, and I ask:
(a) has an Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) assessment been undertaken for the Thomas Road Bridge over Rail project;
(b) if no to (a), on what grounds was an EPA assessment not required;
(c) has any other environmental assessment been undertaken for this project;
(d) if no to (c), on what grounds was environmental assessment not required;
(e) if yes to (a) or (c), could the Minister please provide information as
to who conducted the environmental assessment for the area affected by
the bridge and the date that this assessment took place;
(f) if yes to (a) or (c), could the Minister please provide a copy of the
environmental assessment that has been completed for the area impacted
by the proposed bridge;
(g) if no to (f), why not;
(h) will an environmental assessment be required for the Larsen Road level
crossing in order to complete the necessary rail upgrade for this level
crossing;
(i) if no to (h), why not; and
(j) has a design for the Thomas Road Bridge been finalised and if not, how can any current environmental assessments be applicable?
