(1) Is it correct that compulsory photographs for current drivers’ licence renewals can only be taken at Government designated Photopoint Locations?
(2) If yes to (1), is the Minister aware of the resulting inconvenience for individuals in suburban located full-time jobs in accessing one of the Photopoint Locations, given that Licensing Centres are unevenly distributed in locations throughout the metropolitan area and open only between 8.15 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. on weekdays and Australia Post Offices are open between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. on weekdays with a few only ( none in the western suburbs) open on Saturday mornings?
(3) Has the Government given consideration to using the same photographic method utilised for passport applications where the applicant arranges the photograph personally and has it authorised by a category of person to whom he/she has been known for at least one year?
(4) If not, can the Minister undertake to consider such a photographic alternative as well as arranging for Photopoint Locations to have extended opening hours for the convenience of many full-time workers?
(5) If no to (4), why not?

(2) There are a total of 38 Photopoint Locations in the metropolitan area for the processing of photographic driver licences. There are 30 Australia Post Photopoint locations of which 16 are open Saturday mornings from 9.00am to 12.00 noon and the GPO in Forrest Place Perth is open on Sundays between 12 noon to 4.00pm. (3) Passport photos are currently accepted where the licence holder is temporarily out of the state at the time of renewal. However, in many instances the passport photos provided do not meet quality standards which may result in a delay in producing the photo licence. Given this it is not proposed to extend this option. (4) Photopoint Locations are under continual review in terms of accessibility and convenience to the public. (5) N/A.
