POLICE — OPERATION REGIONAL SHIELD —
KIMBERLEY
929. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to police in the Kimberley
region.
(1) In the last six months, how many
officers in the Kimberley region have —
(a) retired;
(b) resigned;
(c) taken annual or extended leave;
and
(d) requested a transfer out of the
region?
(2) How many
police officers who were originally part of Operation Regional Shield have
remained in, or returned to, the Kimberley region since their initial
deployment there?

some notice of the question. The Western Australia Police Force advises —
(1) (a) The number is zero.
(b) The number is four.
(c) Two hundred and sixty officers
have taken annual leave and 14 have taken extended leave.
(d) A response to
this question cannot be provided within the required time frame. The honourable
member may wish to place this part of the question on notice.
(2) Deployments
of officers in relation to Operation Regional Shield are subject to the
direction of the Commissioner of Police as required by operational demands.
