I refer to the Kath French Secure Care Centre —
(1) Does the minister have any intention of
amending the Children and Community Services Act 2004 to allow independent
oversight of this centre, similar to that provided for other institutions by
the Inspector of Custodial Services and the Council of Official Visitors?
(2) If no to (1), why not?

behalf of the Minister for Child Protection, I provide the following answer —
(1) No.
(2) The appointment and functions of
assessors under section 125A of the Children and Community Services Act 2004
has operated well over the past year.
